Poetry at the Backyard

4th Event: Sept 14th 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m.

The Tahoe Poetry Collective announces a summer poetry series, "Poetry at the Backyard'', sponsored by Chickadee Art Collective and the Tahoe Backyard taking place on the third Wednesday of the month from 6:30p.m.- 8 p.m. at the Tahoe Backyard located at 8428 Trout Ave (behind Bank of the West).

The Tahoe Poetry Collective’s purpose is to foster community based literary expression in the form of poetry, prose and spoken word. Poetry at the Backyard is open to the public.

Call for Poets

This will be a submission-based series with a curated selection process and not an open mic affair. To create an artistic event, a team of curators will select from the submissions. We encourage original work but accept readings of other authors or published writings.

Rules to Submit:

  1. All forms of poetry or prose are accepted, no hate speech*
  2. There is a 10-minute limit (This will allow for 12-15 poets per event). Exceptions may be considered under unique circumstances
  3. By submission, you agree to be present on the date of the event. If you are not selected, you can submit again for the next event.
  4. There are no fees for submission, and all events are free!
  5. If selected you will be notified by the curators at least 1 weeks in advance, and a time slot will be given to you.

Please submit to this email address: tahoepoetrycollective@gmail.com with the poetry or writing you wish to read along with your name and age.

Submissions due by

  • June 1, 2022 (for June 15th event)
  • July 15, 2022 (for July 20th event)
  • August 12, 2022 (for August 17th event)
  • September 9, 2022 (for September 14th event)
